A perfect excuse? We often tend to victimize ourselves and focus on gaining any or some support and attention from others. How we accomplish this is by downplaying another person’s suffering and somehow portraying our issues greater than theirs. Why do we do this? Is there any genuine explanation to this? Isn’t it simply the act of selflessness taking a tumble? Selfishness leads to greed, vainglory, jealousy, anger, lies and even murder. Eventually even the least of these lead to despair and distress. Most depressions in the modern era rise from some form of selfishness either from the victims themselves or circumstances and people around, who try to take advantage of the weak. Today, depression is more than a state of mind. It has become a tool for demanding attention by rejection; Pushing away family, friends, situations, good thoughts and ideas, and secretly yearning for that spot where the victim is the 'center' of all attention.
