Too Little, too much?
I’ve had many people tell me that they do not have much with them to give for God. It could either be their talents, or time and effort; everything becomes insignificant when they look around and see other people doing “big” and “great” things.
Truth be told, and
I’m sure you will agree with me on this, the world has instilled a concept of excellence
in our minds, so much so, that we assume that if we need to succeed in life, or
in anything for that matter, we need to be the best at what we do.
God, on the other hand, doesn’t work
that way. He does not scrutinize what we give Him, rather he sees our hearts.
If the world extracts the best out of you when it comes to success, the Lord
expects a full heart in the little
we
do for Him; and the aforementioned success isn’t worldly either, but for the
Kingdom of God.
I’ve always wondered
about the story of the boy who gave up his dinner for Jesus Christ. (John
6:2-13). Vs. 6 says,
“And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.”
https://thewriterstongue.com/Jesus knew very well
of what He was going to do. The Lord saw the boy with the 5 loaves and 2 fishes
even before he decided to give up his food.
We may have our doubts,
just like how Andrew asked, “But what are they among many?” We also know the
verse which says, “is anything too hard for the Lord?”
There
is nothing too little you can give for the Lord when you give it with all your
heart.
If He can feed a multitude of people with just 5 loaves and 2 fishes, what can
halt Him from using you for His Kingdom? How are you any different from that
boy? Even more so, since you are the Child of God having
been washed by the blood of Christ!
That is not to say
that He cannot work great things if you don’t submit yourself, because He can
definitely use someone else in your place to carry out His will. But the
plan of God to be routed through you will not be fulfilled.
If God, who has
equipped you with everything good for doing His
will (Heb 13:21), has done great things in your life with nothing you have done
so far that you can boast about, how much more can He work in you what is
pleasing to Him, with the little things that you can give Him!
Can we give a little
bit of our time, our efforts, our abilities, our moments and our money with a
full heart to the Lord?
May God help us in
that.
Remember, God expects
us to be faithful in the little things that He’s granted us with. How can we be
entrusted with great things in the Kingdom of God when we are not able to
handle those little things? I think of this life given to us as a training
period for massive things to come and big duties to undertake.
So can we say that
the ‘too little’ we give is ‘too much’ for the Lord? Well…let us just say it is
more than enough as long as it is with all of our hearts.
But imagine how God
the Father welcomes those who have surrendered their lives completely
for His will!
Who have laid down their lives for others and for Christ, who Himself, stands
as our role model of how much we really ought to give.
